The New Teacher Underground (NTU) is back for a second summer of gatherings for incoming and newer teachers. NTU, a working group of New York Collective of Radical Educators, is a social space for newer and alternatively certified teachers to find support and dissect the realities of education in NYC. Through educating ourselves, we strive to be empowered both in and out of the classroom. Each workshop will center around a short reading and activity on a critical topic in education.
Schedule of Topics
July 1 – Identity in the classroom
July 8 – Antiracist pedagogy
July 15 – Resisting the deficit model
July 22 – Culture and community
July 29 – Queering the curriculum
