(Re)imagining NYCoRE’s Place in the Fight for Social Justice Education
Join us for our second monthly meeting of the year as we reflect collectively on the history and future of NYCoRE, engage critically with our mission, and explore the following questions:
- What do the mission and vision of NYCoRE mean to you and your work inside and outside the classroom?
- How do the mission of NYCoRE and our collective commitments connect to the context of education today?
- What is the educational landscape in which we are fighting for social justice?
- How can the structure of NYCoRE support our social justice work?
Look forward to plugging in to the following Break Out Groups:
- TeachDREAM/No Human Being is Illegal
- Adult Educators for Social Justice
- New Teacher Underground
- NYQueer
- NYCoRE Conference
- Bringing Our Mission Statement to Life through Theater
- Upcoming Actions – PEP and Mayoral Election

Start the year off by connecting with like-minded educators, learning about the various ways to plug into NYCoRE, and reflecting on your own goals for the school year and for our collective work. Our first meeting of the year will give you the opportunity to re-dedicate, rejuvenate, and refresh your commitment to the struggle for a just and equitable school system.

I kind of want to go to one of these, but i’m not *technically* an educator!
you should come and check it out Shakti. While our organization is primarily made up of public school teachers, we also have many folks who work in after school programs, adult education, and other educational settings. This particular meeting might be a really good one to go to as the group will be looking at the mission.
